The wine displays inviting notes of tropical fruit and citrus blossom on the nose that give way to peach and pear flavors on the palate. This elegantly balanced, medium-bodied wine is 58% barrel fermented and aged sur-lie. The cool and foggy Carneros region is known for producing grapes with a natural balance of acidity and ripeness. Abundant February rain gave way to a slightly late bud break, but from there on the vines and grape clusters enjoyed copious amounts of ripening sunshine tempered by cool maritime influences at night. Temperatures remained even and steady throughout the Summer and well into Fall, devoid of any major heat spikes. This all made for a leisurely unhurried harvest that extended well into November for the reds. This extended hang-time on the vine led to fruit with great concentration of flavor and natural acidity.
